Volunteer Stories

Volunteering can be a self-enriching experience. It can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction and instill in you a sense of accomplishment. Here are some of our volunteers and their experiences at Colorss Foundation.

Smriti – Volunteered as English teacher and conducting Brain Stimulation games in Pune

“Since the children were already burdened with unit tests, I thought of conducting some activity which would be new, fun and beneficial at the same time. I came up with ‘Sodoku’, which provides an overall exercise for the brain, helping in keeping it active, focused and sharp.”

Neha – Volunteered as English teacher and conducting Brain Stimulation games in Pune

“The girls were very excited a the prospect of learning a new ‘game’. Smriti and I started with first explaining the various terms associated with the game, followed by the concept. Most of the girl, except 2/3 were quick to grasp it, and were able to solve a 4*4 grid within minuted. I found that if the girls have the knowledge, and when they know what to do and how to do, they become confident automatically.”

Shreya and Ankita –  Volunteered teaching students in Colors of Life project, they executed the projects, conducted workshops, taught english, maths and other brain stimulation games in Baroda

“The best thing about that class was that when left to them, the children did not waste their time but concentrated on completing their work. We were really surprised to see the group of girls who were actively involved in the process of writing the story, who otherwise used to be passive throughout the class.”

Kanika –  Volunteered as an English Teacher, taught brain stimulation games, conducted workshops for girl students in Project Enhance in Pune

“Everyone including the children have been very warm and welcoming. I have no previous experience a a teacher/tutor and was initially skeptical about how I would handle a bunch of exuberant kids but I was surprised as the level of discipline and knowledge in the students of Project enhance which made the ice-breaking process seamless and easy.”

“It is immensely gratifying to be a part of a great cause like this and there is no joy greater than sharing a part of the bread that you have earned for yourself.”
