- Vocational Training -
Our ongoing goal is to use the centre to initiate and cultivate cross-sector relationships with chambers of commerce, corporations, and others in the business sector. We propose to set up the following educational and manufacturing workshops in the on going projects. After doing proper need assessments:
- Toy and handicrafts design and production
- Clothing design and production
- Computer and multimedia training
- Motor repair, generator repair, welding, and associated technical skills/training
- Paper items, such as greeting cards, and candle design and production
- Dance and stage performance
Our primary method is simple: education is the best tool we have to advance the interests of these people. By educating and training these individuals, thus preparing them for careers and rewarding lives as full members of the community, we could enable previously isolated and unsatisfied people to help themselves, and to rise above the disadvantaged position they formerly occupied. We believe that all people have the potential to contribute to society, and that for these marginalized individuals, we must not allow their innate skills and potential to erode and disappear simply by failing to provide them with the specialized education that they deserve.
Through our training programs and career placement initiatives, we can bring together highly skilled and motivated workers—i.e., the “graduates” of our innovative training programs—with corporate leaders in need of employees. Thus, we would create a true win-win situation. Corporations will have the opportunity to donate to a worthwhile program, and, because these programs will train individuals for careers with these corporations, to invest in their future at the same time.
